Delphi School Faculty, 1880 10 YEARS AGO
The Carroll County Historical Museum has prepared a display in the courthouse rotunda for President's Day, which commemorates the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. The museum has the genealogy on both presidents.
John Kinzie of Flora received an eight gallon pin when the Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Flora.
By unanimous vote, Flora Community Club members agreed to pledge $100,000 towards the building of a community// county recreation center with swimming pool at Flora Community Park.
25 YEARS AGO
Drilling into the ground for the new self-operated elevator in the Carroll County Courthouse was completed. A 16- inch hole was drilled 42 feet down beyond the basement floor. After a small amount of sand and gravel, they drilled through 15 feet of shale, with the rest being limestone. Drilling progressed at 1 foot per hour. The new elevator will be lifted by an 8-inch hydraulic cylinder moving in this 16- inch hole. Drillers said they expected to hit water, which they did at 35 feet.
Senior Guy Selleck, who lost in the finals of the 177- pound division at the Merrillville Semi-State Saturday, is the first Delphi Community High School wrestler ever to advance to the state finals.
50 YEARS AGO
A long time ago, some 63 years to be exact, a young man started in business in Delphi with $18 worth of capital and a great deal of confidence. Yesterday morning, its proprietor, "Bill" Cowdin put his signature to the papers which transferred ownership of his plumbing concern and brought to a close a long and successful business career.

75 YEARS AGO
One hundred and sixty-eight elderly people in Carroll county will for the first time enjoy the benefits of the old age pension fund this month. These names were finally approved by the county board of commissioners, Saturday.
Forty-eight of those who applied were turned down by the commissioners. Checks will be mailed to the pensioners on the first of each month from now on.
The largest amount allowed any person was $10 while the rest range down to $3.00.
This will cost Carroll county and the state about $6000 each, making a total of $12000 more money to be spent here each month.
100 YEARS AGO
The new $12,000 Church of Christ at Burlington will be dedicated Sunday, February 21. The church is one of the finest in Carroll county and is a handsome edifice built on a modern style and situated in one of the prettiest towns in Indiana.
The doing away with the saloons in Delphi means bread to many hungry children, happiness to sad and overworked women, and it means the help of the community for men who are struggling with fearful appetite. It means the practiced application of our prayer, "Lead us not into temptation," for our sons and our friends when they step across the threshold of their home.
