The 1st annual Delphi Alumni "Basketball Legends of Delphi" extravaganza will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Delphi Community High School Gym for all Delphi alumni (men and women) who graduated in 1998 and earlier.

The event will be held prior to the Delphi boys' basketball home contest against Rensselaer, which has a 6:30 pm JV tip-off. It will feature a basketball game with the odd number vs. the even number graduate years, a 3-point shooting contest and a skills contest.

Following the afternoon festivities, a is planned at around 5:30 pm for all participants of the event and is open to the general public for a fee.

The extravaganza is a joint venture coordinated between the Delphi Athletic Department and the Delphi Rotary Club and is being held as a fun, community involvement event to raise money for both the Athletic Department, and the Rotary Club for scholarships for Delphi graduates.

Delphi basketball memorabilia will be on display and participants are asked to bring pictures, videos, letter jackets, senior cords, shirts and hats to help promote the spirit of the event.

The plan is to have cheerleaders and coaches from the past to be present as well.

Admission will be $5 for adults and $2 for students and will also include admission into the both the varsity and JV boys basketball game afterwards.

Doors will open at 1:15 p.m. for all participants and families and at 1:30 p.m. for all fans and the general public.

The goal is for this inaugural event to be a success and lead to an annual event for future years.
