Job search assistance for senior citizens offered in Delphi

Experience Works is offering job search assistance to senior citizens Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Delphi Senior Center, 700 N. Washington St. in Delphi.

The non-profit, charitable organization formerly known as Green Thumb is located in LaPorte and has been in existence for 46 years. The company offers training and employment opportunities to low-income seniors age 55 and above.

"In the last ten years over 55,600 low-income seniors nationwide have found employment through our services." Experience Works Regional Director Pam Fox said.

Employment and Training Coordinator Bonnie Brown will be available to assist interested seniors with job applications, resume writing and interviewing skills.

Participants will earn $6.55 per hour for 18 hours a week paid for by the organization while assisting non-profit and community organizations.

The organization currently has two seniors employed in Delphi, one at the Wabash & Erie Canal Interpretative Center/Delphi Street Department and the other at the Carroll County Senior and Family Services.
