CARLY SNIPES has been awarded the Medical Student Professionalism and Service Award by the American College of Emergency Physicians, a professional society representing Emergency Medicine Physicians. Snipes is among 31 students nationwide to receive the honor, given to recognize students who "excel in compassionate care of patients, professional behavior, and service to the community." Only one student was selected from each participating medical college.
Snipes is a fourth year student at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She will graduate in May and pursue a three-year residency in Emergency Medicine. She has interviewed at nearly a dozen residency programs throughout the country, and will be matched with a program in March.
Snipes received her undergraduate degree from De- Pauw University, Greencastle, in 2005. A 2001 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, she is the daughter of Dale and Vicky Snipes of rural Flora.
JEFFREY P. MANNING of Bringhurst, son of Paul and Susan Manning, has been named to the dean's list at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester.
ALEX MITCHEL BLACK- BURN of Delphi was named to the dean's list at Pensacola Christian College for acad emic achievement during the 2008 fall semester. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blackburn of Delphi.
SARAH WRIGHT of Brookston has been named to the dean's list at Hope College for the first semester. She is the daughter of Dave and Beth Wright of Brookston.
ALISSA WILSON of Delphi has earned a Bachelor of Science degree Dec. 31 from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville.
