Sharon church has new pastor

Wyant Wyant Alan Wyant was installed as pastor at Sharon Baptist Church on Sunday.

A Carroll County native, he graduated from Carroll High School in 1980 and was a member of the singing group, "His Reflection." After graduation, he moved to Greentown and married his wife, Joanie, in the fall of 1981. They moved to Rhema, Okla,, to attend the Bible Training Center. They returned to Indiana in the spring of 1984. Pastor Wyant then began work with Youth for Christ in Carroll County as the junior varsity director, a position he held for four years.

In the fall of 1988, he left Youth for Christ to become a youth pastor in Frankfort. During this time he was also employed in agribusiness and worked bi-vocationally. In the spring of 1992, he was ordained and went into full-time ministry in Frankfort, working as a youth pastor and associate pastor until the summer of 2002.

While in Clinton County, Pastor Wyant was involved in several areas of ministry; coordinator of youth ministers network; regional director for Acquire the Fire youth conventions; teacher, chaplain and athletic director for Frankfort Christian Heritage School; member and president of Clinton County Ministerial Association; member and president of Frankfort Kiwanis; Bantam football coach, girls varsity volleyball coach and more.

In July of 2002, Pastor Wyant and his family moved back to Greentown to start a small church. He returned to bi-vocational work status with the addition of a job in agribusiness.

The Wyants have three sons: Kamron, age 26, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force stationed near Boston and deploying this winter to Iraq; Aaron, 21, a junior at Indiana University, Bloomington, majoring in fitness and physical training; and Konner, 11, a fifth grader at Eastern Howard School.
