Delphi Chamber announces education series for members
      Delphi Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a free, four-part education series for member businesses. The series' first topic will be on shoplifting and will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the Delphi Chamber office, 113 S. Washington St.

Local mission team going to Haiti
      A mission team of eight will leave Hickory Grove Church Jan 27 on an eightday trip to the remote area of Cazale, Haiti. While there, they will encourage missionaries who live there, minister to the people of Cazale, and build latrines in the community, as well as other work projects. They will take 800 pounds of supplies with them.

'Terrific Thursday' for seniors returns
      Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action Programs will offer special activities for seniors age 55 and over called "Terrific Thursday" Jan. 29. from 9 to 11 a.m. at Great Skates, located at 135 S. Earl Ave. in Lafayette. The location is handicap-accessible and offers convenient parking.

Roth perishes in roll-over
      Cutler resident Ryan Lee Roth was traveling east on CR 400 South late Sunday night and lost control of his GMC truck. According to police, Roth went off the north side of the roadway and rolled his truck several times. He was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Donnelly rejects pay raise
      U.S. Congressman Joe Donnelly announced Friday his plan to return his $4,700 pay raise, effective Jan. 1, to the United States Treasury. "It wouldn't be right for me to accept this raise while the country faces such a difficult economic situation," quoted Donnelly in a press release. "I will be sending my pay increase back to the Treasury.

Camden moves forward with Main St. improvements
      In the first meeting of the new year, the Camden Town Council discussed making improvements on Main St. New street lights and sidewalks are planned. The council discussed the process for beginning the project. First, they will prepare and advertise a "request for qualifications" form for engineering firms.

Farm Bill topic for Saturday's CCAA meeting
      Carroll County Ag Association (CCAA) will meet Saturday at 9 a.m. at the 4-H Community Building in Flora. Following a short general meeting to go over upcoming events, Jacob Maxwell, Carroll County executive director of the Farm Services Agency, will speak on the 2008 Farm Bill.

Preservation Society solicits volunteers
      A Delphi Preservation Society volunteer callout will be Jan. 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 109 S. Washington St. in the historic Opera House building on the east side of Washington St. across from the courthouse. Current volunteers and board members will be present to answer questions. Opera House tours and refreshments will be available.
