Assigned to Lafayette recruiting station
A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom has recently been assigned to the U.S. Army's Lafayette recruiting station, which serves Tippecanoe, Carroll, Clinton, Benton, White, and southern Newton counties.
Staff Sgt. Channon Green comes to northwest Indiana from Fort Bragg, N.C., where he had been serving since 2006 with headquarters company, 82nd Support Battalion, as operations noncommissioned officer (NCO). He was deployed with this unit to Talil, Iraq, from Aug., 2006, to Nov., 2007.
During his military career, he has also been stationed at Camp Arifjon, Kuwait, from Nov., 2004-May, 2006, where he trained Iraqi forces; at Fort Bragg from 2003-04 as a dispatcher with the 3/21st Field Artillery; and at Forts Gordon, Ga., and Lewis, Wash., from 1998- 2003, working in the warehouses of the 54th Signal Battalion and 24th Quartermaster Battalion.
A native of Aiken, S.C., Green and his wife, Karen, have two children, Kira and Xyler.

Air Force Airman Daniel L. Howard has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree relating through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Anita Dewitt of Delphi and a 2003 graduate of Delphi Community High School.
