Lafayette ISP Post adds new detective
Indiana State Police Superintendent Paul Whitesell, Paul Ph.D., announces the reassignment of Trooper Jim Cody to the position of detective.
Cody Detective Cody is a nineyear veteran of the Indiana State Police Department. He earned his assignment into the Criminal Investigation Division through written testing and a competitive interview process. Detective Cody will work from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post, which is responsible for White Carroll, Clinton, Montgomery, Fountain, Warren, Benton, and Tippecanoe Counties.
Detective Cody is a native of Parke County and a 1988 graduate of Rockville Jr.-Sr. High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Technology from Indiana State University (1993). Detective Cody graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December 1999 and was assigned to the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post where he has worked road patrol in Montgomery and Fountain counties.
He is a certified field training officer, crash re-constructionist, and former member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP) and Bomb Squad. Detective Cody is an instructor in emergency vehicle operation, RADAR, VASCAR, LIDAR, and firearms.
Prior to joining the Indiana State Police, he worked four years with the Department of Corrections. He also served in the Army National Guard for 10 years.
Detective Cody, his wife, and three children reside in Crawfordsville.
