Benjamin G. Stewart

Benjamin "Gordon" Stewart, 68, of Delphi, died at 5:50 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at his daughter's home in Monticello with his family at his side. He had battled cancer for several months.

Born May 14, 1940, in Sharpsville, he was the son of the late Ben and Lola Sharber Stewart.

He attended Burnettsville schools.

He retired from Globe Valve Corporation in 2002 after 44 years and three months of service.

Mr. Stewart enjoyed fishing, auto repair and hunting. He loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Perkins of Lafayette, Nancy Brown (husband: David) of Buffalo, and Melissa Jane Venters (companion: Steve Andrews) of Monticello; a son, Benjamin Gordon Stewart Jr. of Massena, N.Y.; four brothers, Richard Stewart (wife: Karen) of Delphi, Roger Stewart of Monticello, Frank Stewart (wife: Jeanie) of Kokomo and Bill Stewart (wife: Joan) of Delphi; five sisters, Debra Fuller (husband: Butch) of Delphi, Nancy Armistead of Alexandria, Va., Illa DePalma and Mary Jean Whiteman, both of Kokomo; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Shirley Heathcote; a brother, Kenneth Franklin Stewart; and a granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Perkins.

Services were held Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Todd Ladd officiated. Burial followed at Morning Heights Cemetery.
