Rex E. Mays

Services for Rex. E. Mays, 71, of Peru, were held Sept. 23 at Parkview United Methodist Church, Peru. Burial followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

He died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at his residence.

Born July 11, 1937, in Miami County, he was the son of Lawrence and Pearl Coleman Mays. On. Oct. 18, 1959, in Miami County, he married Juanita G. Summers, who survives.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1960 to 1962.

In April 1995, Mr. Mays retired from First Federal Savings and Loan Association, Peru, where he was vice president and treasurer. He also farmed.

Also surviving are a daughter, Marcia Minard (husband: Greg) of Peru; two sons, Curtis Mays (wife: Anna) of Kingston, Wash., and Doug Mays (wife: Karen) of Wabash; a brother, Carl Mays of Delphi; a sister, Marlene Ramsey (husband: Don) of Lebanon; and six grandchildren.
