Freeda M. Hunt

Freeda Mae Scott Hunt, 82, of Brookston, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at her residence. She had been seriously ill the past three months.

Born Sept. 30, 1925, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Foster and Sarah Bell Atnip Scott. Her marriage was on Nov. 11, 1944, to Kenneth Dale Hunt in Delphi, who preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1989.

Mrs. Hunt, who graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943, was a homemaker.

She enjoyed boating, fishing, sewing, jewelry making and her home on the Tippecanoe River.

Mrs. Hunt was proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage.

Surviving are four daughters, Carol Daniels (husband: Richard) of Delphi, Teri Funk (husband: Ronald) of Normal, Ill., Sheri L. Minnicus of Williamsport and Robin Flanagan (husband: Mark) of Brookston; a sister, Fosetta Yates of Brookston; six grandchildren, Rick and Jason Daniels, Scott McGinnis, Stephan and Nicole Johnston, Carrie and Rich Gardiner, and Blake Minnicus; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Daniels and Kalin Gardiner.

Preceding her in death were a son, Kenneth Dale Jr., two grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.

Services were held Sept. 27 at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Pastor Wahneta Schley officiated. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.

Memorials may be sent to the American Red Cross. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
