40th Annual Town & Country Baseball State Tournament begins Tuesday

Paul Goyer Field in Delphi and Jackson Township Park in Camden have again been selected as host sites for the opening round District-level of the 40th annual Town & Country Youth Baseball State Tournament scheduled to begin on July 8 at 6 p.m.

For the first time, newlysanctioned Flora will host the Minor (Rookie) Division (8- year-olds-&-under) Semi- State for District qualifiers beginning July 17.

Senior Division

Eleven area teams, including the first four-time defending State champion from Delphi, will compete at Delphi in the tournament's premier Senior Division (12-&-under) for the chance to advance to the Walton Semi-State. Delphi will face Pioneer Tuesday at 8 p.m. while Flora will open against Caston Wednesday night at 7:45 p.m.

Camden is scheduled to face the Winamac-Kokomo UCT winner from the opening game on Thursday at 6 p.m.

North White, Walton, Caston, Star City and Galveston are also entered at the Senior District at Delphi.

Rossville and Burlington's 12-&-under teams will play at the Attica District with Burlington facing Otterbein on July 10 at 8 p.m. and Rossville squaring off against West Lebanon on July 11 at 6 p.m.

Northwestern, Oxford, Boswell, Mulberry and the host team make up the rest of the Attica field.

Camden was selected as a host site for the Minor Division District round, also starting on Tuesday night with 11 teams vying for the right to proceed to the Flora Semi- State.

Delphi's minor-leaguers will face Camden at 6 p.m. next Wednesday while Flora entered two teams into the 8- &-under tourney.

Flora 2 opens Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Frankfort and Flora 1 plays Michigantown on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.

Rossville faces Mulberry Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. while Burlington plays the Delphi- Camden winner on Friday at 6.

Attica and Otterbein comprise the remainder of the field at Camden.

Junior Division

The Junior Division (10-&- under) District will be played at Reynolds starting next Wednesday. Camden opens against AtticPictured giving

and Carol Wilson.a at 6 p.m. and Flora faces Rossville the following night at 6 p.m.

Delphi will take the field on July 11 at 7:45 p.m. against the winner of the North White-Boswell game, with Mulberry, Pioneer and Otterbein making up the rest of the ten-team field.

Junior Division team's advancing from the Reynolds site will play at the Semi- State in Galveston.

Double-elimination tournament play continues throughout the weekend with the championship game slated for July 14 at 6 p.m. at all District sites.
