Phyllis J. Courter
Born March 22, 1933, in Delphi, she was the daughter of Loren and Lillian Brown Ayres. She was a 1951 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended Indiana University, Bloomington. Mrs. Courter was a homemaker and worked at the Rossville Antique Mall, which she co-owned with her son, for five years. She also worked at CJ's Hallmark Shop and the former I&W Fashion store, both in Delphi. She was a member of the Flora First Christian Church, Psi Iota Xi sorority, Jay Cee's club in Bloomington, and the Bloomington Boy Scouts. She enjoyed crafts, oil painting, and ceramics. Surviving are two sons, Scott Courter (wife: Jo) of Noblesville, and James Courter (wife: Mary) of Cutler; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of her service.
