14U Eclipse wins tournament

Two Carroll County girls, Caitlin Schock and Hannah Marvin, are members of the 14U Monticello Eclipse which once again overwhelmed opponents with a 7-0 record at the Kankakee Early Bird "B" Tournament. In the two days the team tallied a total of 58 runs, while only relinquishing 10, with a team on base percentage of .526. Winning two games on Saturday in pool play gave the girls a bye in the first round of bracket play.

In the first bracket game the Eclipse defeated the Joliet Dirt Devils 14-3. Schock went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI. On Sunday, the ladies began the day with a 9-0 shut out of the Wheaton Wildcats. After a slow start, the gals' bats came alive in the 4th inning, scoring seven times to seal the victory. Marvin knocked in two runs and also scored one during the big inning.

By the end of the weekend the team had won the championship, and its third World Series bid this year.

The Eclipse are undefeated in their last two tourneys and have compiled an 18-2 record in April. In 20 games, the team has only committed five errors.
