A group of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School students and five adults went to Covington, La., over spring break to do construction work on houses for victims of hurricane Katrina.

They worked on four houses, all on the same street. The Carroll group split up and worked on several different tasks in new construction. They put up siding, did roofing, and other miscellaneous work.

"None of the houses we were working on actually got finished while we were down there, but we got a lot of work done," said teacher Tyler Sausaman.

The group went under the sponsorship of Carroll County Habitat for Humanity. There were completed Habitat houses on the same street.

"Everyone had a great time, and most of the students want to do more work through Habitat in the future," Sausaman said.
