The summer reading program's grand kickoff was at Carroll Elementary School this morning (Wednesday) with Silly Safari's "What's Buggin' You? Bug Show," featuring Alligator Aaron.

Kids got to see bugs and the animals that eat them. Students learned all the parts of various live bugs, like cockroaches, and compared them to non-insect creepy crawlies such as live scorpions, millipedes, spiders, and more.

The library would like to thank Principal Carolyn O'Connell for hosting the event at school.

This year's summer reading theme is, "Catch the Reading Bug." Registration begins May 27.

Just in time for spring there are new art displays from the fifth grade art enrichment classes at Carroll Elementary School. There are wildlife drawings, color wheels, and shoe sketches. The classes are taught by Grace Woodruff.

Mrs. Woodruff will also be teaching free art classes at the library this summer for ages preschool through adult. Sign up for the classes during summer reading registration.

The theme of the next storytime will be, "Good Food to Eat." Growing veggies in the garden, strawberry patches, and lots of yummy stories to munch on! Storytime fun is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
