Wallar celebrates 100th

Wallar
Adaline Groninger Wallar is celebrating her 100th birthday today, May 7. She is a life-long resident of Burrows.

Mrs. Wallar was born May 7, 1908, to Addie and Frank Groninger. She had two brothers and three sisters, all of whom are deceased.

She met Clayton Wallar on a blind date while attending Ball State University. They were married July 23, 1931, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wallar began teaching music and art after she graduated from the university. She taught in 13 different elementary schools in Indiana. She also gave private piano and violin lessons.

Around the time people began to install electricity in their homes, she persuaded her husband to open Wallar Electric, an appliance store they operated for 50 years.

Mrs. Wallar has two sons, Charles and Jim. She has six grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

She has lived with one of her sons and daughter-in-law for the past seven years. She attends Lighthouse of Hope United Pentecostal Church in Logansport.
