Deer Creek Pastor to be installed
Comet staff report

Dave Herron will be installed as pastor of the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. The public is invited.

This will be the first installation service at the church in more than 30 years. It will be conducted by the Presbytery of Wabash Valley.

Pastor Herron grew up in Iowa and attended a large Baptist Church. Sharon, his wife of almost 33 years, grew up in a small Mennonite Church, but when the church closed, she and her family joined a 2,000-member Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Ill. She was born in London, England, and immigrated to the U.S. when she was four.

They were married in Peoria, and a year after their first child, Jonathan, was born, they moved to Martin, S.D. Herron had a B.A. degree in history with a secondary teaching certificate, and taught English and government in Martin.

While teaching, he was asked to fill the pulpits of two Presbyterian churches (located 15 miles apart) three Sundays each month. Sharon
