Lessons from the Heart
Waiting - not so easy
By Pastor Sandy Hutchens

Hutchens
If we're going to learn anything from our life and find the wisdom of maturity, we've got to learn to want more than simply not wanting to repeat our youthful mistakes. In the past we couldn't imagine wanting anything more than living "large and in charge." So we had to surrender on faith, on faith that Jesus would give us something better than our old way of life. But after we've been walking with Jesus for a while, we learn that a spiritually sober life can really be enjoyed. We learn how nice it is to get along well with our family, how nice it is to do our work well- whether at home or outside- how nice it is to try to help others. We have found that when we keep walking daily with Jesus, every thing goes well for us.

However, there is almost no work in life as hard as waiting. And yet God wants us to wait for Him. Motion is easier than calm waiting, and yet we must wait until God shows us His will. So many people have marred their walk and hin dered the growth of their spiritual lives by too much activity. If we wait patiently, preparing our selves always, we will be some day at the place where we should be. And much toil and activity could not have accomplished the journey so soon. We need to be made ready for God's gifts. Some of those gifts can come only if we learn to wait. We can never be as useful or as happy as God intended unless we have received those gifts that only come in waiting.

Herron
A Prayer

Lord Jesus may I discipline myself to wait upon you. But we both know that without the help of the Spirit I cannot succeed. So I ask you to send now your Holy Spirit so that as I wait I may trust.
