Martha Hammel-Bloyd

Martha E. Hammel-Bloyd, 78, of Lafayette, died on April 25, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Regional Health Center.

She was born on June 3, 1929, in Rossville, to Bruce and Oora Cooley Coyner. She was raised by her foster parents, Russell and Marie Gribben. She married Lester Paul Hammel on Sept. 5, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She married Harold "Lee" Bloyd on Dec. 29, 1997, and he survives.

Mrs. Bloyd was a shop secretary at Fairfield, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Evergreen Wesleyan Church.

Surviving with her husband are daughters, Ona Marie Houser (companion: Steve Durham) of Monticello, Robin Rader (husband: Randy) of Frankfort, and Linda Swartz (husband: Doug) of Lafayette; sons, Richard Bloyd (wife: Marla) of Kokomo and Martin Bloyd (wife: Chirata) of Fishers; a sister, Mildred Marlatt (husband: Rex) of Frankfort; 11 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette. Interment was at Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.
