Herbert D. Ford
He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Brookston, to Roe Bert and Alena Mae Timmons Ford. He married Mary E. Edwards on June 18, 1946, in St. Louis, Mo., and she preceded him in death Dec. 25, 2002. Mr. Ford was a 1938 graduate of Brookston High School and a 1945 graduate of St. Louis, Mo., Refrigeration School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre, where he was part of the D-Day forces landing on Utah Beach. He began working at Alcoa in 1952 and retired from there on June 1, 1983, after more than 30 years as a die maker. Mr. Ford was a member of the 30-year club at Alcoa. He was also a member of Delphi American Legion and Delphi VFW. Surviving are a daughter, Diane Barron Ingram (husband: Elliot) of Savannah, Ga.; a son, Bruce Ford (wife: Gaye) of Goodland; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Ford was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Tam, a brother, Ralph Ford, and his parents. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Services will be held there May 1 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Kirk Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
