Margaret L. Hodges
Born Oct. 8, 1916, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of William "Mac" and Velvia Jones Dowdell. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis in 1935. On Dec. 24, 1935, she married Floyd H. Hodges. They divorced in July 1878. Mrs. Hodges was former owner of Hodges Float Trips in northern Carroll County. She was a member of the Living Faith Church of the Brethren, Carroll County Order of the Eastern Star #475, serving as a three-time past Worthy Matron, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge, serving as District Deputy for three terms. She was also a member of the L.E.A. National Women's Relief Corps, serving as Indiana Department President, and a member of the Daughters of America. Mrs. Hodges enjoyed flower gardening. Surviving are a daughter, Donna M. Gardner (husband: Thomas R.) of Lafayette; a son, James Robert "Bob" Hodges (wife: Rita) of Panama City, Fla.; ten grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William "Mac" Dowdell Jr. and Richard N. Dowdell; a grandson, Robert Hodges, and a great-great-granddaughter, Carrissa Ekstrom. Services were held Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiated. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. The Rebekah Lodge honored her life with a short service prior to the 2 p.m. service. Memorials may be made to Living Faith Church of the Brethren. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
