Hufty, Gruber wed

Ed Gruber of Delphi and Melverine Hufty of Burlington exchanged vows during a ceremonial union April 5 at the Wabash & Erie Canal Conference Center in Delphi. A reception there followed the event.

Rev. Richard Covert officiated the ceremony. Judy Downham was pianist and organist. Vocals were performed by David Falkenberg of Flora.

She is a 1939 graduate of Clay Township School in Miami County. She graduated from business college in Kokomo in 1941 and was a secretary and tutor.

He is a 1937 graduate of Delphi High School. He attained a bachelor's degree in agriculture at Purdue University in 1941. He was an airline pilot for TWA from 1945 until his retirement in 1979.

The bride's children are Kay Miller (husband: William) of Richmond, Kim Hufty (wife: Shelia) of South Gate, Mich., Curtis Hufty (wife: Beth) of Flora and Karen Dobbins of Plainfield, Ill. Gruber's children are Larry Gruber of Delphi, Janice Przonek of Solvang, Calif., and Judy Svegliato of Texas.

The couple returned home to Delphi after a trip to the southern states to celebrate their union.
