Break-in at Payne's Pharmacy

Police are questioning a suspect in connection with a burglary Friday morning at Payne's Pharmacy in Flora.

The break-in was reported Friday morning at 8:12 a.m. by a neighboring business owner. According to Chief Paul Redmon, entry was gained sometime during the night through a door on the south side of the building (Columbia Street).

Redmon said at first nothing appeared out of place and no money was taken, but when owner Barb Payne did a walk-through she discovered several narcotics missing.

"They knew what they were looking for," said owner Jim Payne. "They took all controlled substances."

Jim Payne said that in the 38 years he has owned the pharmacy, it has been broken into three times. The culprit was caught in the act during the last attempted burglary.

Police are continuing their investigation.
