Story Time theme for the week is baby Animals. Children's librarian Marcia Sledd will read stories and sing songs about all sorts of cute, cuddly, furry, and slimy baby animals. Family storytime is Tuesdays at 7 p.m. On Thursdays the library offers Baby Lap-sit at 9:30 a.m., Toddlers at 10 a.m. and Preschoolers at 11:30 a.m. Morning Book Club meets April 25 at 9 to discuss "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson. Breakfast and discussion led by Kelly Currie will follow. Multiple copies of the book are available at the library. In Stitches will gather on April 28 at 7 p.m. to wrap up those winter knitting, quilting and crochet projects. Bring a snack to share with the group. The 2008 Stargazers production will be "Guys and Dolls Jr.," performed July 25 and 26. The classic American musical takes place in the roaring twenties and is the story of the GUYS who gamble and the DOLLS who reform them to better ways. The musical features such songs as "A Bushel and a Peck," "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat," Marry the Man Today" and "Adelaide's Lament." Children in grades kindergarten through the-justcompleted eighth-grade are eligible for the production. Auditions will be May 27. Call the library for additional information and to sign up for an audition. Family event Friends of the Delphi Public Library will host a Scavenger Hunt and Family Fun Day May 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library on the corner of Indiana and Main streets. Prizes will be awarded for Scavenger Hunt participants. Entertainment by "Tweet" Martin, as well as free drinks, popcorn, children's events, wDance Revolution will be offered. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. From proceeds from the March book sale the Friends purchased six computer chairs for the library. Flora-Monroe Township Come into the library and experience the art displays throughout the building. Carroll Elementary School's fourth grade art enrichment class has several projects on show. There are perspective drawings in one, two and three point perspectives, collages mixing painted works with three dimensional objects called painting assemblages, complementary color schemes with contour line drawings, cubes and other geometric forms showing depth with lunch objects, and self-portrait statues. In the display case on the main level there are projects from the Portrait Art Class taught by Brenda Daly. Be creative and have fun learning about "A Study of Shadow and Light," a new art class being offered Monday evenings, April 28, May 5, and May 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The class will work from simple, three-dimensional objects in a still life setting. Brenda Daly is the instructor for the class. Register at the main desk or call the library, 967-3912. During the month of April, selected fourth grade students from Carroll Elementary School are reciting James Whitcomb Riley poems in honor of National Poetry Month. Call Dial-A-Story and hear Kylee Retzlaff reciting, "The First Bluebird." Friday the poem changes to "An Idiot" read by Adam Beaver. Call Dial-a- Story at 967-3814. The theme of the next storytime will be "Dinosaurs." Purple, green or brown . . . the gigantic reptiles abound for silly fun at storytime. Storytime is Tuesday at 10 a.m. eCoffee Beat performer Indiana native Steve Hill will perform at Delphi Public Library's Coffee Beat April 26 at 7 p.m. The event is free and the public is invited. Guests should enter the library from Indiana St. Hill is a talented artist with versatility and songwriting finesse. His debut CD features six original works which provide a titillating glimpse into the depth of his musicianship. His tune selection and arrangement leaves the listener looking forward to whatever is in store in his next disc. Hill infuses influences of James Taylor, The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen with a captivating sound that is his own.
