DILLON CARTER of Flora helped Valparaiso University's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team advance to the organization's national competition after winning a regional competition for its efforts to promote free enterprise.

Valparaiso's team now is preparing for the national SIFE competition to be held May 13-15 in Chicago.

Twenty-two executives from Fortune 500 companies judged the regional competition that included teams from 36 colleges and universities.

Last year, Valparaiso's SIFE team was judged first runnerup in the regional competition.

SIFE is an international nonprofit organization that challenges its more than 38,000 student members from colleges and universities to address real-world business and economic issues in their communities.
