Burlington Identity theft is something that can happen to anyone. In an effort to educate the community on this type of crime, Burlington Kiwanis Club is hosting a seminar on identity theft to be held Tuesday evening at 7 in the Burlington Park Community Building. Presenters will be Carroll County Sheriff Tony Burns and Carroll County Prosecutor Tricia Thompson. The event is free and open to all interested persons. Extension Ag Educator Paul Marcellino will be guest speaker at Kiwanis Club's Saturday morning breakfast meeting set for 7:30 in the fire station. Anyone interested is invited to attend and should call Teddy Huffer at 566- 3671. A fish/tenderloin fry will be held Saturday night at Faith Church of Christ to help raise funds for the Jamaica mission trip. Serving will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Gary Jones, lead singer and keyboardist for the quartet, Mercy's Mark, will perform Sunday evening at 6:30 at Faith Church of Christ. A bank account has been set up at Salin Bank by friends of Tony and Denise Dowden to help them build and set up a special room for their son, Jacob, who is autistic. UMW will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Crossroads Community Christian Church will have a "move the pews out" day on Sunday. Youth Group will meet at 6 p.m. A bridal shower breakfast honoring Holly Spohr, bride-elect of Jeremy Huckstep, will be held Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. at Burlington Church of Christ. Youth in grades 6-8 will have a lock-in this weekend at Faith Church of Christ. A baby shower honoring Jill Dren will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oakland Christian Church. |
