Lady Oracles off to sizzling start

      Expectations are high this season for the Delphi Lady Oracle softball team. After all, they lost only one player to graduation and return eight starters from last year's 17- 13 team, including six seniors, both of its top pitchers and welcome the addition of three talented freshmen.

Delphi opens season with home meet
      Delphi boys' and girls' track and field teams opened their season at home on April 3 versus West Lafayette and Twin Lakes. The meet marked the first competition on the newly redone track.

      Call out for Delphi summer swim is under way. Coaches are needed and anyone willing to volunteer should call Brian Burton at 765-564-4242 or email burton@ dcwi.com. The age group program will run in May and June. The swimmers will determine the number of practices and meets they will attend.

      Two former Carroll Jr.-Sr. High athletes competed in the Manchester College Invitational for outdoor track last weekend. Courtney Rinehart, daughter of Bret and Michelle Rinehart of Flora, won the 5K race with a personal record of 20:26.

      Oracles Kyle Bender and Andrew Cebulla combined to throw a one-hitter against Lewis Cass last Thursday en route to a 12-1 win. Mike Myers and Kory Banes each went 2 for 5 with 3 runs batted in. Austin Hawn and Andrew Flora each had 3 hits as well for the Oracles.
