'Trail of Death' to be topic at Canal annual meeting
      The 1800s journey that the Pottawatomie Indians call the "Trail of Death" will be the topic of Shirley Willard's talk at the annual meeting of the Wabash & Erie Canal Association on April 15 at the Canal Conference and Interpretive Center.

Boat taking shape
      A full-scale, look-alike canal boat is being constructed at Canal Park. It is 70 feet long and 12 feet wide. Some of the features will be two platforms, two cabins, and a gangplank for entrance.

Canal Earth Day is April 19
      Wabash & Erie Canal Earth Day will be April 19, beginning at 9 a.m. at Canal Park in Delphi. Assignments will be given from there. Volunteers are needed for general clean-up work and tree planting. They should dress in work clothes, wear sturdy shoes, and bring gloves and appropriate tools.
