Library Camden Public The library's "Winter into Spring" Reading Program has 15 members. On March 25, the midway point, the group had an afternoon get-together. Judie Peters presented a book review. The program runs through April 25 and there is still time to sign up. Children are invited to Storytime which is held each Thursday afternoon at 4. 14J library-Flora Flora-Monroe Township April is designated as National Poetry Month. There are seven goals for the observance: to highlight the extraordinary legacy and ongoing achievement of American poets; to introduce more Americans to the pleasures of reading poetry; to bring poets and poetry to the public in immediate and innovative ways; to make poetry a more important part of the school curriculum; to increase the attention paid to poetry by national and local media; to encourage increased publication, distribution, and sales of poetry books; and to increase public and private philanthropic support for poets and poetry. The library is celebrating National Poetry Month by inviting fourth grade students from Carroll Elementary School to recite James Whitcomb Riley poems on our Dial-A-Story. Presently Cole Hickner can be heard reading the poem, "The Idiot." Friday the featured student will be Bradi Rhine performing, "Little Girl, Two Little Girls." Call Dial-A-Story 24 hours a day, 967-3814. The winners of the prize drawing for the Winter Reading Program, "Cool Reads!" are Elizabeth Kauffman and Margaret Schenck. They both won a snowman prize pack filled with goodies. Congratulations to the winners and all of our winter readers. The theme for the next storytime is "Spring!" Come join us for fun stories, fingerplays, and flannel board stories. Storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. |
