Rita Funkhouser

Rita Marie Funkhouser, 76, of Cutler, died unexp ectedly Monday, March 17, 2008, at Lafayette Home Hospital.

Born June 16, 1931, in Walton, she was the daughter of Virgil and Marie Baber Turner. She graduated from Walton High School in 1949.

On June 19, 1949, in Walton, she married Ray Funkhouser, who survives. They resided in the Deer Creek area until moving to Cutler in 1958.

Mrs. Funkhouser was a homemaker who helped her husband with farming.

She was a member of the Shiloh Lutheran Church in Walton and Euchre Club.

She was an avid reader and solitaire player.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Nancy Kay Pullen of Frankfort and Julie Funkhouser of Cutler; three sons, Dennis Funkhouser of Lafayette, Gary Funkhouser (wife: Vicki) of Wingate, and Thomas Funkhouser (wife: Margie) of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Diamond Townsend (husband: Lemon) of Kokomo; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Flora (www.bakerfh.com). Pastor William Art Maloney will officiate and burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
