Funds distributed from Camden's anniversary celebration
Comet staff report

Jeff Sieber and Dan Casserly, representing the 175th anniversary committee, presented the final report and distributed leftover funds at last week's Camden Town Council meeting. Recipients were the Lions Club and Camden Preservation Society, both receiving $1,500.

Sieber said the committee has some ideas to share with the Preservation Society but that the final decision on what the money will be used for will be determined by the society.

Lions Club will use their funds to host the July 26 horse pull.

"We want to express our thanks for all the work you've done the past two years," said Pete Wagoner, council president. "It was a great success."

Bill Dittman reported that the fire department has hooked up a generator that will keep the trucks from freezing.

He also said that the township is looking for grants to purchase new playground equipment for the park.

Wagoner said that the defibrillator that the town secured through a grant has been used to save a life. He said a local woman called the town office recently in distress. Town Marshal John Chapman took the defibrillator to her home and restarted her heart before EMS arrived. After a few days stay in the hospital, she has returned home.

Wagoner commended town employee Linda Red Elk and Chapman for their efforts to help the woman.

Star Development which is overseeing the housing grant began work write-ups and began lead base paint testing last week. It was reported that one person has dropped out of the program and a replacement is being sought.

A joint meeting of the council and the Jackson Township trustee and advisory board will be held at 7 p.m. March 20 in the fire station.

The next meeting will be April 10 at 7 p.m. in the community building.
