Dr. Seuss Day
Carroll Elementary celebrated the National Education Association's Read Across America on Feb. 29. In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 3), the school featured a Dr. Seuss book called "Fox in Socks" and students learned about the life of the author. The students were to dress in their "wildest" socks. A winner was chosen from each grade level. Dr. Seuss stories were read throughout the day and Dr. Seuss movies were played in the classrooms and at lunch. Students in first grade had a "sock hop" to end the day. Grade level wildest sock winners are pictured above, l-r: Front row - Tayson Pyke, first grade; Riley Henderson, kindergarten; Damian Hanks, fourth grade; Thomas Piotrowski, third grade. Back row - Karlee Kitchel, fifth grade; Sybyl Pencek, sixth grade; Grace Filbrun, second grade. Photo provided
