Serious crash on SR25
Comet staff report

Carroll County Sheriffs Department is investigating a one-vehicle personal injury crash on SR25 south of Delphi. A vehicle driven by Michael Yates, 27, Flora, while passing two cars traveling south, struck a patch of black ice, lost control, went off the road and struck a utility pole. According to the police report, it appeared Yates was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The black ice was possibly caused by a drainage problem that allowed melting snow to run onto the highway where it froze. The report indicated that speed and roadway conditions may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Yates was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette by Carroll County EMS. His condition was listed as "fair" Tuesday evening.
