Historic restoration started in Camden
At his installation in January, the new worshipful master of Camden's Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge No. 211, Fred Hartman, urged the members to support his plan to restore and repair the brickwork on the fraternity's building this year.
The members agreed to do so at the March meeting and authorized funding for Twin Lakes Tuckpointing of Monticello to start the necessary repairs on the building that has graced Camden's Main Street since 1902.
In light of the building's historic significance to the community and the state, the lodge has applied for a grant from the SIA Foundation of Lafayette to aid in meeting the financial obligation for the restoration work.
