Comet staff report

The National Weather Service (NWS) advised that Carroll County remains under a flood warning.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a flood warning for the Tippecanoe River above Winimac, affecting Carroll, Pulaski and White counties, was extended from Thursday afternoon to Friday evening.

NWS expected winter weather (snow, sleet, ice) March 3 and the possibility of warmer temperatures March 4 to lead to more melting. This corresponds to a level that floods CR1200W. and CR1225W. south of CR725N., as well as areas further south.

Carroll County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Dave McDowell said his and the sherrifs departments continued to keep a close eye on water levels of the Tippecanoe River in the Oakdale, Tecumseh Bend and Horseshoe Bend areas.

Residents are urged to use common sense and avoid flood-prone areas for the duration of the rainy period.

For emergency assistance, call 911. Contact the sheriffs department at (765) 564-2413.

Residents who wish to be put on NIPSCO's telephone call list, which sends alerts when waterflow through the dam reaches flood stage, can call (800) 4-NIPSCO and request to be added to the flood call list.
