Winter Sports Summaries DCMS boys and girls split Delphi Community Middle School swim team competed in a boy-girl meet at Twin Lakes last Thursday. The girls won 100-85 while the boys lost 125-60. First place for the girls went to Annie Mose 50 free and 400 free; 200 free relay team of Karli Edging, Taylor Saul, Laine Rader and Shelby Disinger and the 400 free relay team of Emily Layman, Taylor Thompson, Disinger and Mose. Kendall Baker won the 100 Free for the boys. DCMS swimmers beat South Newton The Delphi Community Middle School swim B-team beat South Newton last week. First places went to the 200 medley relay team of Kayleigh Green, Brooke Beale, Emma Carpenter and Emily Delaney; Austin Coker, 200 free; Carpenter, IM; Cameron Burns, 50 free; Taylor Saul, diving; Deserae Doremus, 50 fly; Taylor Brown, 100 free; 200 free relay team of Coker, Delaney, Cameron Rowland, Burns; Green, 50 back; Beale, 50 breaststroke; and the 400 free relay team of Carpenter, Brown, Coker and Burns. Other Delphi placings were: 200 medley relay: 2nd Trey White, Doremus, Brown, Trevor Peters. 200 free: 2nd Delaney. 3rd Brown. 100 IM: 2nd Beale. 3rd Elliot Murphy. 50 free: 2nd Rowland, 4th Alexis Smith. Diving: 2nd Rowland, 5th Peters. 50 fly: 2nd Carpenter, 3rd Murphy. 100 free: 2nd Coker, 3rd Peters. 200 free relay: 2nd Mathew Randle, Victoria Fehrholz, Beale, Smith; 4th Doremus, Brett Abramczyk, Zayna Martin, Taylor Phillippo. 50 back: 2nd T. White, 4th Fehrholz. 50 breaststroke: 2nd Smith, 3rd Doremus. 400 free relay: 2nd Delaney, Fehrholz, Murphy, Randle; 4th Green, Peters, Phillippo, Kylie White. Carroll 7th win 2 of 3 The 7th grade Lady Cougars basketball team went 2 and 1 last week. They started on Feb. 18 with a 23-12 loss to Delphi. Paige Spesard led the way with 8 points. On Feb. 19 they bounced back to defeat Columbia 15-8, Storm Dreadfulwater and Taylor Walters had 4 points each. On Feb. 21 they continued to win, defeating Clinton Central 22-18, Spesard led the way with 11 points and Kaitlin Ragan added 9 more. They have 6 wins and 3 losses for the year. In the "B" games Carroll lost to Delphi 22-15, Courtney Benefiel led the way with 8 points. The girls then dropped a close game to Clinton Central 23-21. After trailing 17 to 7 at half-time the Lady Cougars came back to outscore Clinton Central 14 to 7 in the second half. Macey Popes, Betsy Bingaman, and Spesard contributed 4 points each. |
