Daffodil Days will soon be here. This is the time when Carroll County Unit, American Cancer Society will be selling daffodils, its major fund raising undertaking of the year.

Delphi Airport officials have requested to make the facility a county facility. With such a plan the airport could expand and become more useful. No decision has been announced by the Carroll County Commissioners.

Chief Frank Cook and Captain Tom Welborn were carrying out Marine and Navy exercises in Sardinia, Italy. The two men are both from Delphi, but met for the first time as part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit headed for the Persian Golf.

A recent check on the population of the City of Delphi found the figure to be 3,047. A shotgun stolen in 1972 was recovered by Carroll County Police.

The gun was recovered after the owner of the Greenhorn Gun Shop in Delphi reported that a young person had come to his store and tried to sell the gun.

Reportedly, the person was acting very nervous. A check was made through the National Crime Information Center computer and it was learned that the gun, along with other items, had been stolen in 1972 from a doctor's residence in Carmel.

The investigation is continuing. The gun, valued at about $500 is a Belguim Browning .12 gauge semi automatic.

J. Reid McCain reports that Carroll county is readying itself for the next general election with the acquisition of new voting booths. Mr. McCain pointed out that while there is not too much that can be said about a voting booth, other than the fact that it is new, sturdy and clean, still the fact of its purchase is newsy. As the old booths were of antique vintage, the project is a worthy one.

Note: the aftermath of the fire-

Tentative plans for a new consolidated school house in Flora are now being considered.

Although no official action has been taken Glenn Smith, trustee, said that he had talked with members of the advisory board and that construction of a new building immediately is the present plan. The building, he said, would cost approximately $80,000.

Equipment is being purchased and will be placed in the community building, where school will be held, if possible, starting next Monday.

In order to prepare for class studies in the community hall, a week of vacation was declared for students. Arrangements for various classes will be made to be held in the gymnasium and probably some may be taken care of in the Bringhurst school for the present.

There was a very small quantity of furnishings taken from the building during the fire.

More than 500 students attend the school in Flora.

City bonds to the amount of $22,000, given by the city of Delphi 30 years ago to aid in financing the Monon railroad, will be due April 1, this year, and in consequence the council at its regular meeting arranged to have the bonds taken by the three Delphi banks at 6 percent interest. These bonds have cost the city $46,200 in interest alone at 7 percent, while $3,000 on the original amount, $25,000, is all that has ever been paid on the principal. There is rather a long story connected with this railroad deal, which does not show as good an investment as was made by the city of Delphi in regard to its municipal water plant.
