Carroll band members perform in state contest

Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School band members participated in the Indiana State School Music Association's (ISSMA) Solo and Ensemble contest on Feb. 2.

The contest was held at Harrison High School in Lafayette. Local results follow:

Solos

Tuba solo: Eddie Flanagan - gold rating.

Snare drum solo: Cassandra Proffitt - gold.

Trumpet solo: Cate Pickens - gold.

Clarinet solo: Toni Driver - silver.

Ensembles

Clarinet choir: Kirsten Arkwright, Cheyanne Bockrath, Matt Clark, Toni Driver, Lauren Nesbitt, and Rachel Winter - gold.

Clarinet trio: Cheyanne Bockrath, Lauren Nesbitt, and Rachel Winter - gold.

Trumpet trio: Heather Brickhouse, Nathan Hughes, and Donald Rush - gold.

Brass ensemble: Zach Courtney, Xavier Lewis, Alex Luzadder, Cate Pickens and Blake Seward - gold.

Percussion ensemble: Patrick Forgey, Corey Johnson, Dane Schwingle, and Hunter Snapp - silver.

Woodwind quintet: Storm Dreadfulwater, Alyssa Ingram, Lauren Nesbitt, Bethany Stoddard and Sabrina Wilson - silver.

"I am very proud of all of my students who participated in the contest," said band instructor Don Pettit. "They worked very hard on their pieces, and I hope that the other students who did not participate this year will be inspired by their peers' success. I would like to see all of my students participate next year."
