Refusal to wear bracelet lands former county employee back in jail
By Debbie Lowe Staff writer

Lohmiller
Rebecca Lohmiller, the former county employee who served as health nurse for more than five years and was later convicted of practicing medicine without a license and fraud, was re-arrested last weekend.

A no-bond warrant was issued for Rebecca Lohmiller's arrest Feb. 15 by Special Judge Linley Pearson after notification of probation violation by Carroll County Prosecutor Tricia Thompson. Lohmiller was incarcerated in the Carroll County Jail after the arrest.

Lohmiller was sentenced in September to four years at the Indiana Department of Correction, two years executed on home arrest with electronic monitoring and two years suspended and four years on probation.

Carroll County In- Home Detent ion Coordinator Callie M. Schimmel filed a violation memorandum Jan. 25 in Carroll Circuit Court. Schimmel stated that Lohmiller removed the transmitter (electronic monitoring bracelet) on Nov. 18, Jan. 15 and Jan. 22, and failed to immediately notify the supervising officer. According to court documents, Lohmiller also received a verbal warning against removal of the device Jan. 22, prior to the documented removal.

Thompson filed a motion for Lohmiller to spend the remainder of her time in the DOC. Lohmiller's attorney, Florence Anne Briggs, requested a hearing for the judge to make a decision about Lohmiller's fate. She could remain on in-home detention or serve time at DOC. According to court documents, Lohmiller "has information pertinent to this matter."

The hearing will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Carroll Circuit Court on the third floor of the courthouse.
