Frank A. Shanks
He died at 7:30 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 31, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. Born July 6, 1926, in Carroll County, he was the son of Carl Raymond and Esther M. Lyons Shanks. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1944. On Feb. 19, 1950, he married Eva Lou Pearson at the home of her parents in Carroll County. She survives. Mr. Shanks was a farmer. A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the 5th Ordinance Medium Maintenance Co. He was a member of the Camden First Baptist Church, Camden American Legion Post #413, Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #211, F&AM, at Camden, and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family and grandchildren. Surviving with his wife are four sons, Jeff Shanks (wife: Roberta) of Bringhurst, Randy Shanks (wife: Pam) of Delphi, and Jim Shanks and Dan Shanks (wife: Tara), all of Camden; a daughter, Barbara Shetler of McCordsville; two sisters, Mary Anna Scott of Bringhurst and Julia Carter (husband: Dick) of Witchita, Kansas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the Camden First Baptist Church. |
