Card of Thanks

Thanks so much to Kris Seward, Tracy Miller, the staff of Carroll High School, and the members of the community who attended my retirement celebration last Sunday. Also, thanks for the gifts and the many cards from everyone. It was a special day for me. I'll miss all of you.

Carolyn Gilbert

The family of Frank Shanks would like to extend thanks for the wonderful show of support during his illness and death. The family appreciates all the flowers, cards, food, phone calls and prayers.

Thanks to all my friends, family, Father Peter and St. Joseph Parish for the prayers, support, cards and phone calls during my stay in the hospital and at home.

Carol Ann McGreevey

A special thanks to our family and friends for their many cards and phone calls for our 60th wedding anniversary.

Thanks again,

Nelson and Pearl Sines

The Family of Jean B. Smith wishes to thank all of this community and far beyond for the love, comfort and support that was given us when our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to his Maker on January 25, 2008. The cards you sent, along with flowers, and gifts to our church in his memory, mean so much to us, and to see the faces of those who came to the visitation and service meant more than we could ever express. We still see your faces in our minds, and the caring that radiated from you. Thank you so much for everything! Because of what we received from God, through all of you, we can carry on!

High Flight

by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Oh, I have slipped the surly

bonds of earth,

And danced the skies on laughter

silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and

joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds...and done a

hundred things

You have not dreamed

of...wheeled and soared and

swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov-

'ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind

along, and flung

My eager craft through footless

halls of air.

Up, up, the long, delirious burning

blue

I've topped the windswept

heights with easy grace

Where never lark, nor even

eagle flew.

And while with silent, lifting

mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity

of space...

...put out my hand, and touched

the face of God.
