A new year filled with opportunities
By Al Jackson

Oh my goodness…. we are already through the first month of 2008. There are lots of wonderful things going on in our community. There are major efforts under way in the area of economic development. Business and community leaders have already committed countless hours to examining ways to enhance the quality of life in Carroll County.

The leadership of the Carroll County YMCA is working very hard to deliver high quality programs and activities. Leadership Carroll County is helping to develop a sense of excitement for and commitment to our community. There are some incredible things happening at the Canal Center. The libraries continue to be the cultural heart of our communities and offer excellent services and programming.

All of these efforts are wonderful and they all need support. Some of them need financial support. Many of these organizations have funds in the Community Foundation that were designed to provide support to these efforts. You can help tremendously by making generous tax deductible financial contributions that will help keep the work going forward. If your favorite organization does not have such a fund, you can help start one. Some of these organizations need people, like you, who believe in what they are trying to accomplish to come along side, roll up your sleeves, and help. So, if any of these efforts excite you, give us a call and we will help you get plugged into the effort.

Carroll County, Indiana, is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. Are there some things that need improvement? Certainly. The really exciting news is that there are groups of folks, just like you, all over this county, who have made a commitment to make a difference. They could use your help. Won't you make a commitment in the rest of 2008 to be a part of these exciting programs and projects to make Carroll County a truly world class community?

If you'd like to get involved and make a difference call us at 800-964-0508 or e-mail us at info@cfcarroll.org and we'll help you get connected to the exciting things that are happening in our community.
