Frank J. Whitfield Frank "Pee Wee" J. Whitfield, 84, of Camden, died at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 29, 2008, at his residence. Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Tuscumbia, Ala., he was the son of John Ivy and Leaner Crittendent Whitfield. He attended schools in Alabama. On Sept. 6, 1958, at the Camden First Baptist Church he married Mary Berniece McDowell- Lantz, who survives. Mr. Whitfield was employed in maintenance at Custom Alloy in Delphi, where he last worked in December 2007. He previously worked in Flora and Delphi at Capehart, Peters-Revington, SAYCO, and Alloy Craft. For a number of years, he owned and operated Whitfield Simonize in Camden. Mr. Whitfield was a member of the Camden First Baptist Church and the Camden Lions Club. His hobbies included bird watching, gardening, and music. He enjoyed being with his family and extended family. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Everett Gene Whitfield Sr. of Wentzville, Mo., John D. Whitfield (wife: Karen) of Bringhurst, and Frank D. Whitfield (wife: Shanell) of Camden; one daughter, Mary F. Stilson (husband: Bob) of West Lafayette; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, a grandson, an infant great-grandson, four sisters, and three brothers. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Camden First Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Marcellino officiated. Burial was at Camden Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Camden First Baptist Church, 255 E. Main St., Camden, IN 46917, or to the Camden Lions Club. Cree Funeral Home, Camden, was in charge of arrangements. |
