Library News Burlington The Burlington Community Library is announcing three new resources for patrons. These resources will aide in research and report projects for both students and adults. They are: high speed Internet connection, a new 2005 print set of the Encyclopedia Britannica that includes biography and geography articles, and a new Encyclopedia Britannica on CD ROM that includes articles for elementary aged children, students, and adults. The new resources are available through a donation received from the Carroll County REMC Operation Roundup Program. "We would like to thank all the REMC members who participate in this program," said library director Karen Dinger. "Your contributions make such a difference in our communities. We are so grateful for the opportunity to provide our patrons updated resources." The library is open Tuesdays 10-12 and 1-7 p.m. and Thursdays 10-12 & 1-5 p.m. Delphi Public A few openings remain for the Spanish Language Class offered on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Instructor Noelia Vega, library staff member and a native of Honduras will focus on basic communication skills taught through conversation and written exercises. Please call the library to sign up for the few remaining openings. Eric Hicks will be playing at the Coffee Beat on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. Eric's musical style is a "scrapbook" of tunes that are inspired from personal memories, clever observations and everyday musings of the local songwriter and musician. A sampling of his music may be found on U-Tube under Eric Hicks and Travis, my Indian friend. Coffee and music are free and desserts are available for a nominal fee. Guests should enter the library from the Indiana Street entrance. Faith Inspired Book Club will discuss Wicca's Charm by Catherine Edward Sanders at 9 a.m. Feb. 7. This book is an excellent resource that provides real-life answers and understanding of this pagan religion. It not only informs but challenges us by contrasting what seekers find in Paganism and what they perceive as lacking in Christian tradition. Catherine Edwards Sanders, both a Christian and a journalist, will open your eyes and inform you with this book. Rich discussion and comforting coffee are a part of the morning. For information call the library at 765-564-2929. Friends of the Library Thanks to the Friends of the Delphi Public Library, the loveseat in the Children's Room was given a boost of color. The next time you are in the library take a moment to see this lovely new addition. Upcoming events for the Friends are on the Events List hanging above the drinking fountain in the downstairs hallway. Take note of the Spring Book Sale March 7 and 8. The Friends will also be hosting a membership sign-up party in conjunction with the book sale. Come ready to pay your dues for 2008 and tell a friend who might be interested in becoming a new Friends Member. The Pre-View Book Sale is at 6 p.m., which is a change from past years. Anyone interested in helping by presorting books or working the days of the sale, should contact Jayne Abbott (765) 564- 3739. Flora-Monroe Township It's cold and dreary, you're bored and weary.
