Winter Sports Summaries

Carroll 7th win two

The Carroll 7th grade girls' basketball team defeated North White last week 19-10. Kaitlin Ragan led the team with 7 points, and Courtney Benefiel added 4 more.

The team defeated Tri-County Monday night to move to 5 and 1 for the year. Ragan led the team with 7 points and Madison Welch added 6 more.

Carroll 9th improve to 8-2

Carroll freshmen had a busy week, starting last Monday. At Tri County they were victorious in a close game 41-38. Leading the Cougars were Noah Allen with14 points, Cole Seller 8 and Seth Johnson 7.

On Wednesday the team suffered its first loss, a home game against Pioneer, 36-24. Sellers led in scoring with 8 points. Jarvis Simmons and Jonathon Bush each added 5 rebounds with Allen getting 5 steals.

Saturday, the team competed in the annual tournament at Kokomo, splitting two games - losing to Kokomo and then beating Logansport in a tight 30-29 contest. Allen and Simmons each had 11 points with Seller chipping in with 7. Allen pulled down 10 rebounds for the day.

The Cougars are 8-2 with seven games remaining.

DCMS girls open with wins

Delphi Oracles seventh grade girls' basketball teams opened the season with back-to-back wins over Klondike and Battle Ground.

The A team beat Klondike 46 to 8. The B team won 30 to 6. Leading scorers for the A team were Cayla Hawn and Fallon Rumell, both with 12 points. Kayle Snowberger was leading scorer for the B team with 10.

The A team defeated Battle Ground 37-26 after being down 10 points in the first half. Leading scorer was Summer Sutton with 15. The B team won 22-14 with Brittney Dunbar leading the way with 10 points.

Young Cougars finish season 10-6

Carroll 7th grade boys defeated the host Caston team 41-25. The Cougars jumped on the Comets and held a commanding 28-9 lead at half-time. Eric Miller led Carroll with 20 points, including four 3-pointers. He had 5 steals and Brady Wiles and Logan Gaines each handed out 5 assists. Brian Keith grabbed 5 rebounds.

The Cougars competed and played hard against a talented and undefeated Logansport Lincoln squad. The host Logan team pulled away in the third quarter to claim the 57-35 victory. Miller again led Carroll with 17 points. Taylor Downham chipped in 10. Miller and Downham had 9 and 8 rebounds, respectively.

Carroll's 7th A team finished its season with a 10-6 record.
