Cloyd T. Crawn

Cloyd T. Crawn, 83, of rural Delphi, passed away Jan. 29, 2008, at 2:48 a.m. in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been a patient there since Thursday and died unexpectedly.

Mr. Crawn was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Newton County to the late Tunis and Charity Brown Crawn. His marriage was to Ruth Coble at Hickory Grove Church on May 30, 1948, and she survives.

Mr. Crawn was a 1942 graduate of Reynolds High School. He attended Hickory Grove Church.

He farmed all of his life in Adams and Jefferson townships in Carroll County and was a member of Carroll County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Crawn enjoyed woodworking, especially making wooden toys of all types, which he gave to his family and many area children.

Surviving are his wife in Delphi; a son, Sam Crawn (wife: Julie) of Brazil; three daughters, Vickie Criswell (husband: Vern) of Delphi, Eva Gould (husband: Richard) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C. and Kitty Bargeron (husband: Brannon) of Wadley, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Roller (husband: Paul) of Idaville; 10 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Daniel, a brother, Martin, and two sisters, Georgia and Janie.

Friends may call Jan. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Services will be held there Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m., and will be officiated by Pastor Dan Gottschalk. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Church Cemetery in rural Carroll County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
