Residents asked to continue reporting flood damage
Comet staff report

Even though Gov. Mitch Daniels has asked for federal aid in the flooding that began Jan. 7 in northern Indiana, a state emergency official is encouraging victims of the flood to continue to report damage by calling a toll free phone number.

"It's extremely important that we capture all the information we can concerning flood damage," said Phil Brown, interim director of Indiana Department of Homeland Security emergency response division. "We want to include everyone who has incurred damage. We're still actively gathering information."

The toll free number, 866- 210-1925, is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Losses can include structural damage to homes and loss of personal property due to the flooding. Callers will be asked to provide their name, address, phone number, damage to property and type of damage the property sustained.
