Smith seeks re-election
Jeffrey R. Smith has announced that he will seek reelection as judge of the Carroll Superior Court, an office he has held since 1988. He was appointed the first judge of the court by Governor Orr in 1988 and then elected to a full term in 1990, 1996 and 2002.

In making his announcement, Judge Smith said, "Judicial office, although both challenging and demanding, has given me a unique opportunity to use my talents, education and professional experience in public service. It has been a privilege to serve Carroll County as judge of the Carroll Superior Court."

Judge Smith, a 1965 graduate of Delphi High School, received his undergraduate degree from Wabash College and his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law. He was a member of the law firm of Obear, Overholser, Smith, and Huffer from 1972 to 1987. In addition to his private practice, he served as deputy prosecuting attorney for five years and prosecuting attorney for nine years. He lives in Delphi with his wife, Donna.

Judge Smith has served as a member of the governing body of the Indiana Judges Association and has been appointed to the Criminal Benchbook Committee and the Magistrates Committee of the Indiana Judicial Conference.

He is currently a member of the Indiana Supreme Court Records Management Committee and the Criminal Law Policy Committee. He is a member and past president of the Delphi Rotary Club.
