The Comet has been criticized by at least one elected official

for printing too much information about county

government. Should the Comet continue current full coverage

Yes - It is essential taxpayers know as much as possible about county government. No - Just the highlights of governmental meetings are sufficient.

Reader's comments:

Not only do I think they need to get quotes on insurance, but I also do not understand paying insurance to commissioners or other part time employees of the town/cities/ or county with our tax dollars!

I would imagine that with $800,000 in the works that they would legally have to get bids not only for the insurance but the agent as well. If the agency is receiving up to 10% ($80,000) I would imagine the agent is receiving a large chunk of this taxpayer money. County employees should be feeling a little underappreciated about now that their commissioners don't care enough to allow bids from other sources.
